Enzymes are the workhorses of the body. Enzymes are proteins made in the living cells from amino acids, which assist in all processes in the body. There are hundreds of thousands of enzymes constantly changing and renewing themselves while allowing all tissues, organs and glands to function properly with clockwork precision.

Each enzyme in the body has a specific task to fulfill. Once activated, an enzyme will do its sole designated task until its action is no longer needed, and its action is curtailed. This helps the body to maintain health.

Enzymes are nature's helping hands. Food is the most abundant source of enzymes. Given that enzymes are quite fragile, they are destroyed during cooking. Consequently, insufficient amounts of enzymes are ingested. Worse yet, fast foods and highly refined foods are particularly low in enzymes necessary to replenish the body's reservoir of enzymes. Enzymes are also broken down, especially during exercise and intense physical activity, and if the supply of enzymes is not sufficient in the diet, it could pose health problems over the long run. In addition, with increasing age, the body loses its ability to produce its own enzymes to support all biochemical reactions. Thus, the decreasing supply of enzymes, be it due to poor dietary habits, stressful lifestyle, intense physical activity or aging, supplemental enzymes become essential for optimal health.

Extensive research, especially in Europe, has shown that taking supplemental enzymes boosts the immune system, helps prevent inflammation due to wear and tear and/or repetitive motion around a joint, and keeps the blood flow normal.

Ultimate Nutrition's Advance Formula Prozyme contains the most important enzymes that we all need regularly and routinely. The activity of the enzymes in Advance Formula Prozyme is carefully assessed to ensure that each lot contains the amounts that the body needs to replenish the lost enzymes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  1. Can Enzymes Be taken With Other Nutritional Supplements?
Yes! Enzymes are proteins that are naturally produce in the body. As such, they do not interfere with any other nutritional supplements and may actually enhance the effectiveness of other nutrients.

  2. Are There Any Side Effects Associated With Enzymes?
Taken for the first time, enzymes may cause slight flatulence and intestinal discomfort. These effects resolve themselves within two or three days.

  3. Do Enzymes Lose Their Activity?
Yes, enzymes do tend to lose their activity over long-term storage. Enzymes also lose activity if exposed to heat or moisture.

  4. Why Does The Body Produce Less Enzymes With Age?
With the aging process, greater metabolic demands are placed on the body. In addition, with advancing age the body progressively produces lesser and lesser amounts of enzymes. Therefore, supplemental enzymes may become necessary.

  5. Can Enzymes Be taken With Prescription Drugs?
While enzymes are not expected to interfere with drugs, before a dietary supplementation with enzymes is started, it is best to seek the advice of the primary care physician. The physician should be able to determine whether the enzymes would interfere with the prescribed drugs or not

  6. Do Enzymes Relieve Pain?
Yes! A number of clinical studies have established that dietary enzymes mitigate the pain and inflammation, such as associated with sports injuries or the pain caused by repetitive motion, which can cause inflammation and pain due to the tissue wear and tear. Research shows that dietary enzymes relieve pain in arthritic joints.
